Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba may have to secure a short-term transfer before getting his career back on track in the summer.

The Frenchman is on the look out for a new club following his release from Juventus. He will be allowed to return to football next month following a ban for testing positive for banned substance DHEA.

After originally being handed a four-year suspension, Pogba's sentence was reduced to 18 months on appeal. As a current free agent, he is said to be open to any move with a third spell at United linked in the past.

Any move to one of Europe's top five leagues is unlikely now the January transfer window has closed. Pogba recently admitted his mission to return to the France national team after last appearing for his nation in March 2022.

"The dream of the World Cup (2026) is there, but [Didier] Deschamps hasn't opened the doors for anyone," he told Gazzetta dello Sport in December. "It's up to me to open them."

If Pogba is to return to the Les Blues squad, a short-term fix may be required. Foot Mercato in Italy have claimed that the midfielder could turn to the MLS, Brazil or Turkey over a move before the summer.

Clubs in the USA are able to sign players until April while the Brazilian window is open until February 28. Turkey, however, could be more tempting with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Morata and Fred all moving in recent windows.

The report adds that Pogba would then look to make a 'big jump' in the summer in a bid to revive his France career in the 2005/06 season.
