Gossip: Conte future 'in doubt' as Emenalo quits, PSG 'hold Mourinho talks', Real Madrid 'target Neymar'

Conte, Mourinho and Neymar – career changes?
Conte, Mourinho and Neymar – career changes?

Well, Slaven Bilic got the sack and David Moyes is going to replace him. There’s no need for any further speculation on that because it’s definitely going to happen, despite a recent poll of Hammers fans revealing that 93 per cent of them would prefer the club to appoint Alan Pardew. Wowser.

But if only the Hammers could have held on just a bit longer for a new manager, they could have got someone really good. Someone more accomplished than Moyes and – yes – even more accomplished than Pards, if you can fathom such a man.

Someone like Antonio Conte, for instance.

The Chelsea gaffer’s Stamford Bridge future is on the rocks, according to the Sun, and we know you’re getting bored with hearing that. But this time, it really is (apparently), because his main boardroom ally Michael Emenalo has resigned from his role as technical director.

Emenalo was reportedly “at loggerheads” with chief executive Marina Granovskaia over Conte’s tenure, and his exit could potentially hasten the Italian’s departure from west London.

Although if we’re being honest, Conte probably wouldn’t have taken the West Ham job even if got fired tomorrow AND was deeply in love with Karren Brady.

PSG make contact with Mourinho

So what about Jose Mourinho?

The Manchester United boss could also be on the market soon (this is also according to the Sun) after his “representatives” held talks with Paris Saint-Germain chiefs about a sensational summer switch.

Again, if the Special One did quit Old Trafford, he would probably prefer a move to PSG rather than West Ham, even if he was deeply in love with Pedro Obiang.

So what about Sam Allardyce?

The unemployed former England manager (100% win ratio, let’s not forget) is champing at the bit for some hot training ground action and is in “pole position” to take over at Everton, says the Mirror.

It’s not too late for West Ham to step in though, although Big Sam might spark a riot at the London Stadium by cupping his ear to the home fans as they booed his return.

Oh well, Moyesy it is then.

Moving on from managers that West Ham aren’t going to appoint, there is a rather big transfer story developing on the continent. As in, really big. As in, Neymar signing for Real Madrid.

The Express says the Spanish giants want the Paris Saint-Germain forward as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, the suggestion being that the Brazilian only ever intended to play for PSG for one season as people would have got too upset if he moved directly from Barcelona to the Bernabeu.

However, Neymar’s former Barca team-mates Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique and reportedly telling him that he shouldn’t do that, otherwise they won’t be friends with him anymore.

Elsewhere, PSG right-back Thomas Meunier has revealed he turned down a move to Chelsea on transfer deadline day (Mirror), Everton are keen on 20-year-old Norwich midfielder James Maddison (ESPN) and Arsenal are preparing a £10m bid for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, who they sold to Besiktas for £400,000 five years ago (Talksport). That’s almost as financially inefficient as rejecting £65m for Alexis Sanchez and selling him for £20m four months later.
