Springboks star Canan Moodie has put in the biggest hit of the season so far.

Turning out for Vodacom Bulls against Emirates Lions in the United Rugby Championship, Moodie, alongside a teammate, was the last line of defence after Lions man Manuel Rass made a break.

Rass jinked inside to bump off Moodie but was met with jaw-dropping force and hammered backwards as he was dumped by the 22-year-old rising star.

The commentator was in disbelief. "Oh boy!," he exclaimed. "Oh he has been smoked by Canan Moodie!"

"That bus hit a brick wall," said one fan.

Moodie has won 12 caps for the Springboks and can play at centre, wing and full-back. When he made his debut for the world champions in 2022, he became the second youngest player to ever represent the national team.

He was told by Bulls boss Jake White back in December to 'stay away from the buffet' after returning to his club from South Africa camp a little overweight.

“He looked at times like he had eaten too much food at the buffet while he was on tour for the last month. I said that to him, I think he is going to have to start staying away from the buffet,” said White.

“When he got away a couple of times, I thought he would finish but as I said, I think we will have to keep him away from the buffet for a while."
