Wes Burns was taken off on a stretcher during the first half of Ipswich's game against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Welsh forward, who has appeared in 18 of Ipswich's 23 Premier League fixtures this season, appeared to damage his knee when challenging Cody Gakpo for the ball and received treatment for several minutes before being carried off.

Both sets of fans applauded as the 30-year-old was carried off, which is often the case when there is concern in the stands about a player's plight.

Burns has been with Ipswich since 2021, playing a role in both of the club's promotions from League One to the Championship and from the Championship to the Premier League.

At the time of his injury, Liverpool was already a goal up through Dominik Szoboszlai, and the Reds scored twice more between Burns' injury and half-time, with Mohamed Salah and Gakpo both getting in on the act.

Gakpo made it 4-0 in the second half, making it 10 goals conceded in two Premier League matches for Ipswich after the Kieran McKenna's men were thrashed 6-0 by Manchester City last weekend.
