Jayden Danns explains transfer decision after Liverpool 'research' amid injury blow
Liverpool starlet Jayden Danns has revealed that he has done his "research" on Sunderland - as he hailed them as an "incredible" team after completing his loan move to the Black Cats on transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old will look to build upon his bright start to life in the Reds' first team during his time in the North East, having signed a deal with the EFL Championship outfit until the end of the campaign. The homegrown forward has made nine senior appearances for his boyhood club over the last couple of campaigns, scoring three times.
The Scouser will hope to assist Regis Le Bris' upwardly mobile side as they push for promotion to the Premier League in the second half of the season. Fellow second tier clubs Hull City and Blackburn Rovers had also been mooted as potential loan suitors for the prospect, who started for Liverpool in the recent loss against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

For now, Danns has returned to Merseyside after his medical with Sunderland revealed a back issue, with no timescales having been provided in terms of his return to full fitness. Despite this, the Reds academy graduate embraced the temporary switch to the Stadium of Light as he looked forward to testing himself in the EFL Championship.
The youngster said: "This is my first loan move and a chance to prove myself, so I’m very appreciative of the opportunity and I’m grateful to the Club for placing their faith in me.
"I’ve done my research and the team is incredible, so this feels like the right step. I’m disappointed that I will be unable to do that straightaway, but I’m proud to have joined the club and I will work hard throughout this period to ensure I can return to action and play my part."
Meanwhile, Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman spoke in glowing terms about the striker as he looked forward to seeing the player in action for his new temporary employers. He said: "Jayden is an extremely talented player, who fits the profile we were searching for.
"His availability was always going to be determined late in the window due to Liverpool’s schedule and the demand for him was high, so we worked extremely hard to secure the player. It’s unfortunate that the medical process highlighted an issue that ultimately requires Jayden to take a period of rest."
He added: "Despite this, he remained highly motivated to come to Sunderland and as such we agreed to collaborate with Liverpool to ensure there is an opportunity for him to join us at a later date. We remain excited by the prospect of working with him and look forward to supporting him throughout the upcoming period."
The Black Cats, who last played in the Premier League in the 2017-18 season, currently sit in fourth place in the Championship table - with this meaning they occupy a playoff spot. After 30 games, the North East club is just five points adrift of current division leaders Leeds United at the summit.
