Harry Kane seems sure to stay at Tottenham – for next season at least.

The Spurs top scorer has yet to begin talks on a new contract and despite his allegiances to the club fears haven’t subsided that the England striker will eventually leave for one of Europe’s elite.

But that doesn’t look like being as soon as this summer, The Sun reported on Friday.

Kane is in no immediate hurry to chase some trophies – and is desperate to lead the club out in their new stadium during the 2018-19 season – even if Tottenham don’t make the top four.

Kane’s basic salary at Spurs is £110,000 and there’s talk of a double-your-money deal to be had once the club have returned to north London.

But while the 24-goal Premier League joint top scorer is staying put for now at least, the same can’t be said of two of the club’s key defenders.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino faces a fight to stop Danny Rose and centre-half Toby Alderweireld from jumping ship to a rival.

It’s claimed that Manchester United will move heaven and earth to make the pair theirs this summer as Jose Mourinho switches big money focus to his defence after spending huge sums on deals for Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.

Tottenham now face a battle to be playing Champions League football next season after their European adventure came skidding to a halt on Wednesday night.

Juventus’ 2-1 win at Wembley means Kane and co must now turn their attention to being able to try and better that next.

They currently hold fourth place with Chelsea five points behind them. Spurs face a trip to Bournemouth on Sunday while the current champions are at home to Crystal Palace.
