Cardiff City's head of scouting Andrii Fedchenkov has left the club with immediate effect.

The former Bluebirds lead scout was brought in last January, during Erol Bulut's time at the club, and helped to lead on transfers such as Ryotaro Tsunoda, Roko Simic, Jesper Daland, Wilfried Kanga and Yousef Salech.

Under Bulut, Fedchenkov helped to reshape the scouting structure at the club, with the erstwhile Bluebirds boss adamant on revamping the whole recruitment department - describing the appointing of the Ukrainian as just the first piece of a much larger puzzle at the time.

Fedchenkov helped the club dive into overseas markets, having been heralded as an expert in European and Japanese scouting, as the Bluebirds looked to cast their net further afield in the hope of signing bargains as opposed to overpriced British options. He was also tasked with helping to lower the average age of the squad as a central part of the club's longer-term strategy.

However, he has lasted just over a year in the post, having been recruited by Brazilian top-flight side Flamengo. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

"Time to say goodbye to Cardiff City Football Club and I can’t help but feel a bit sad leaving such a great club and an amazing place to work," he wrote on social media.

"A huge thank you to (head of recruitment) Patrick Deboys and (CEO) Ken Choo for trusting me, and to our brilliant scouting team — Ben Pickford, Jack Swales and Harry Harvey (all scouts) — for all the teamwork along the way.

"I’m proud of the work we’ve done and the scouting structure we’ve put in place. During the time in South Wales, I’ve met some fantastic people and made real friends. Wishing the club nothing but success in the future!"
