Liverpool may have another injury to worry about ahead of its game against Everton on Wednesday with Curtis Jones carrying a knock.

The Reds were dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship strugglers Plymouth on Sunday as Arne Slot made wholesale changes to his starting line-up. Liverpool should still have had enough to progress but Ryan Hardie's penalty secured a famous win for the home side.

The day got off to a nightmare start when Joe Gomez was forced off early on. The defender lasted eight minutes before limping off and passing the captain’s armband to Diogo Jota, with Wataru Endo then dropping into defense.

With Liverpool trailing, Slot opted against bringing on Jones and instead turned to youngster Trey Kone-Doherty instead from the bench. But according to the Daily Mail, Jones was not risked because he is 'slightly unfit' and didn't even warm up at Home Park.

Jones has been struggling with injuries in recent months and sat out the recent win over Ipswich. However, he was back in the starting line-up for the midweek victory over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.

After the game, Slot said: "Curtis Jones was on the bench, but he came to me this morning and said, 'I don't think I am fully recovered yet' as well after the training session of yesterday."

Liverpool already has a concern over Trent Alexander-Arnold going into the derby with Everton, after he was forced off in the win against Bournemouth and hasn't been risked since.

Speaking on Gomez after the game, Slot confirmed it was not a hamstring tear, having suffered an injury against West Ham six weeks ago.

"I am not too sure if it was the same leg, but I haven't had time to ask him," Slot said during his post-match press conference. "It was clear, I think we all know which moment he felt a bit insecure about [it] because he didn't sprint back fully.

"Then he said, 'I am not 100 per cent sure and I am afraid if I make one extra sprint things will go wrong.' It's not torn I assume, but it didn't feel good for him
