Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly ‘held talks’ with Karim Adeyemi over a possible summer transfer.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has endured a frustrating campaign due to a muscle injury he sustained in October that kept him out of eight Bundesliga matches. But Adeyemi has shown his quality in the past, particularly last season en route to Dortmund securing a spot in the Champions League final.

He played 12 of the 13 games in that run and started every game from the quarter-final stage onwards.

Those performances have attracted interest from several European sides, including Napoli, with reports in Italy stating he has emerged as a potential January replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

Adeyemi is a player the club could sign in January, according to Corriere dello Sport, along with Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho. But the report adds Adememi is ‘reluctant’ to leave Dortmund midway through the season and would prefer a summer move to the Premier League.

Corriere dello Sport claims the player will be available for around €45m-€50 ($47m/£38m-$52m/£42m) and that both Liverpool and Chelsea have already begun talks about a possible approach for the winger ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Adeyemi has been linked with Liverpool in the past and would fit the club’s transfer policy given he is 23 and has experience at elite-level European football. The forward also enters the final two years of his contract this summer and is capable of playing anywhere across the front three. He could even help fill the void created if Mohamed Salah were to depart at the end of the season.

Adeyemi has earned four senior caps for Germany and netted a Champions League hat-trick against Celtic earlier this season. He signed for Dortmund in 2022 from Red Salzburg and has played 80 times for the club, scoring 19 goals.

The rapid wide player has clocked the third-fastest speed in Bundesliga history when he was registered at 22.77 mph in February 2023.

Should he remain in Germany this month, it could be an indication to Liverpool that Adeyemi will be available this summer.
