Liverpool is back in Premier League action today, and it will be hoping to extend its lead in the title race as it takes on Ipswich.

The Reds host Kieran McKenna’s side in a repeat of the opening game of the season, which of course gave Arne Slot his first win at Portman Road. The Liverpool boss would undoubtedly take a similar result today with the chance to potentially go nine points clear.

With Arsenal facing Wolves and Nottingham Forest taking on Bournemouth at exactly the same time as today’s game at Anfield, Liverpool fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on events elsewhere as they look for a favor. Of course, the Reds will have to take care of their own business as well.

Having made four changes against Lille on Tuesday, we can almost certainly expect some of those rested to return to the starting line-up today. At the very least, Slot will be forced into one change, with Curtis Jones out after being forced off at half-time in midweek.

It’s a simple enough decision for Slot to make to replace the Scouser, with Alexis Mac Allister back in the side to take his usual spot alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield.

The rest of the team requires a bit of thought though. Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk should retain their places, while you’d expect Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate to return after being named on the bench against Lille.

Left-back provides the biggest conundrum in defense at the moment. It’s essentially a flip of a coin to decide between Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson - considering the former has started the last two games, we’ll go with Robertson to get the nod today.

That just leaves the front three to be decided upon. Of course, Mohamed Salah keeps his place on the right, with the Egyptian having ended what, for him, was a long goal drought in midweek.

Although Darwin Nunez couldn’t repeat his Brentford heroics on Tuesday, the Uruguayan is probably deserving another start, although he will be under a bit of pressure to show that he should be starting more regularly. That leaves Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz to fight it out for a spot on the left, and considering he didn’t come off the bench in midweek, we’ll give the former the nod.

Liverpool predicted line-up vs Ipswich: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Nunez.
