Ajax defender Jorrel Hato was reportedly in attendance for Liverpool's 4-1 victory over Ipswich at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds recorded a routine 4-1 win in front of the 18-year-old, as a Cody Gakpo brace plus goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah ensured the Reds stayed six points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Several eyewitnesses claimed Hato was in attendance, and that is not beyond the realms of possibility considering Ajax did not have a match this weekend.

Liverpool's squad has a strong Dutch contingent, with Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Gakpo all starting against Ipswich, while head coach Arne Slot is also Dutch. Hato, who can play as a center-back or as a left-back, has reportedly emerged as a target for Liverpool in 2025.

TEAMtalk reports that the Reds initially planned to move for Hato during this summer's transfer window, but are now considering swooping this month instead amid increasing competition for the teenager, including from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Ajax would be reluctant to let Hato go this month but an offer of $31.5million or more would reportedly be enough to tempt the Amsterdam club to consider a sale.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's chances of signing Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich have seemingly been dealt a blow.

Kimmich, 29, has been linked with a possible move to Anfield as a free agent at the end of the season, but Bayern sporting director Christopher Freund expects the Germany international to sign a new contract in Bavaria. "I'm positive that he will ultimately decide to continue playing for FC Bayern,'' said Freund.

Kimmich announced in December that he would make a decision on his future in January, and at the moment it sounds as though a contract extension at Bayern is the likeliest outcome.
