Manchester City’s bid to retain the Premier League title is unlikely to withstand a defeat tonight when fourth-placed Aston Villa come to town.

The defending champions sit third in the table after being held to a goalless draw by Arsenal on Easter Sunday.

Remarkably, City remain unbeaten since their last meeting with Villa, which ended 1-0 to Unai Emery’s side in early December courtesy of a Leon Bailey goal.

In 14 meetings between Emery and Pep Guardiola, that victory remains the former Villarreal coach’s only one against his compatriot.

Faint hopes of Villa putting together a title charge of their own have since faded but they remain worthy contenders for a place in the Champions League - and will draw to within two points of City with a win.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Villa remain one of the most dangerous teams in the division and certainly have the ability to unlock City’s defence. Having failed to score against Arsenal, there is a sense of vulnerability about Guardiola’s team.
