Man United could strike shock January transfer after £45m summer move
Manchester United's January transfer plans in the final ten days could be impacted by super agent Jorge Mendes.
United are yet to add to Ruben Amorim's squad in the winter window. Despite lurking in the bottom half of the Premier League table and clearly in need of reinforcements, the Reds are facing the possibility of entering the final half of the season with the current squad of players, which isn't good enough.
Lecce's Patrick Dorgu is the number one target, it seems, with a second bid for the left-back reportedly on the cards. However, there are some doubts over the fee being reported.

Reports on Friday suggested a proposal in excess of £25m was being sent to the Italian giants. In all honesty, if it was Brighton, Brentford or Fulham looking to sign him, would he cost that much?
Should Dorgu arrive, Amorim will have solved the most worrying part of his team in the left wing-back position but the problems in the final third remain. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have both struggled for consistency, resulting in calls for a new centre-forward to be brought in. Unlike Arsenal and Chelsea, United need the opposite of a strong, physical striker.
Step forward, Jorge Mendes. The agent has a long-standing relationship with United dating back to Cristiano Ronaldo's first move to Old Trafford in the 2000s.
He represented David De Gea for the majority of his 12 years at the club, helped bring Bruno Fernandes to the club in January 2020 and was part of Ronaldo's sensational return in 2021. United met with Mendes in November amid their interest in Sporting winger Geovany Quenda.
Mendes represents some of the game's biggest players and one of them is reportedly of interest to United. Joao Felix is a name being linked with a move after failing to hit the ground running at Chelsea.
The versatile forward signed a four-deal contract at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £45m but from his 20 appearances this season, he has started just ten games and only three of them have come in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca has stuck with Nicolas Jackson as his first-choice centre-forward and Christopher Nkunku has often appeared to be next in line. Tentative links have touted United with a possible move for Felix in the final few days of the January window. A player full of quality, Felix could be the answer to Amorim's issues in attack.
Felix is capable of playing down the middle or as an attacking midfielder meaning he could be the difference. Of course, the move is likely to only be temporary, but you never know.
At Barcelona last season, the 25-year-old contributed to 16 goals and across his time at Atletico Madrid, he played 131 games for Diego Simeone's side. In England, he still has something to prove.
It's difficult to know how likely a deal is, considering pay packet will be considerable . There is room to manoeuvre with Real Betis reportedly paying 84 per cent of Antony's wages so United could, technically, have the room to pay Felix's salary, albeit that is unlikely.
One thing that is for sure is that Mendes will try and get the best deal for his clients and he has certainly done that.
Ruben Dias cost Manchester City £65million in 2020 and is among the elite in his position. Bradley Barcola (Paris Saint-Germain), Joao Neves (PSG), Pedro Neto (Chelsea), Leny Yoro (Man United), Manuel Ugarte (Man United) and Goncalo Ramos (PSG) are all players who are represented by Gestifute - Mendes' agency - and have secured mega moves in recent years. The value of these seven transfer fees combined is a total of £413.5million.
United's existing relationship with Mendes could help deals get over the line quicker and help the club add to Amorim's squad after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford.
