Manchester United are progressing with a deal to make Lecce left back Patrick Dorgu their first signing under Ruben Amorim.

Sources hope a deal can be struck so that Dorgu, 20, can travel to Manchester within 24 hours but a fee has yet to be agreed for the young left back.

The MEN reported on Monday that United remain in discussions with Lecce and the player’s representatives regarding personal terms. If United agree a deal for Dorgu then Tyrell Malacia is likely to leave. Real Betis are among a number of clubs interested in the Dutch left back. Betis signed Antony on loan from United last week.

Malacia has made four starts since he returned from a 550-day lay-off with a knee problem in November. Fellow left back Luke Shaw has not started for United since the away win at Luton Town on February 18 and he has made 15 club appearances since the start of last season but he started full training on Wednesday.

Matt Hargreaves, United's director of transfer negotiations, and Base Soccer intermediaries Leon Angel and Frank Trimboli met Lecce officials last week.
