Manolis Siopis has confirmed his departure from Cardiff City in a heartfelt message to Bluebirds supporters for their "unwavering love and support" and vows to always cheer the club on in the future.

WalesOnline revealed on Thursday that the Greece international had flown back to his homeland to complete a move to Greek giants Panathinaikos, where he will team up with his good friend, former Trabzonspor colleague and international team-mate Anastasios Bakasetas, who was one of the key drivers in the deal.

Siopis started brightly in south Wales but then succumbed to the rigours of Championship football and found the going tough at times. Nevertheless, he has been roundly praised by Bluebirds supporters in the last 24 hours for his unerring commitment to the shirt whenever he took the pitch.
