Mathys Tel transfer reality could be the perfect option for Man United
Less than a week to go until the January transfer window closes, and Manchester United could have the perfect option right in front of them.
United have until 11pm on Monday, February 3, to complete their transfer business before the window slams shut until the summer. A host of names have been linked with moves to Old Trafford, but so far no new signings have been added to Ruben Amorim's squad.
Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu is a target for United, with the club in talks with the Serie A outfit over a deal to sign the left-back. Some reports have even suggested that a total package worth €35million (£29.3million) including add-ons has already been agreed between the two clubs.

Another player linked with United is Mathys Tel. The Bayern Munich striker has been tipped to leave the Bundesliga club in recent months, with the rumours ramping up over the last few days.
The Independent has claimed that United are exploring a deal to sign Tel, but will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature. It has also been claimed that a loan with an option to buy is the deal that is on the table for Tel during this window.
While United should always look for the long-term when it comes to new signings, the possibility of signing Tel on loan with a buy option is one that could work for the club. For starters, if a move does not work out in the second half of the season, United would not have committed any major financial outlay in a deal.
Tel could spend the remainder of the season getting accustomed to his new surroundings and teammates before potentially signing permanently in the summer. For the rest of the United squad, the arrival of Tel could also be hugely beneficial.
Tel would want to play as the main striker in a No.9 role in whichever club he plays for. At United, that would mean he would face competition from Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
The added competition of a new striker may prompt Zirkzee and Hojlund to show their best form and prove to Amorim that they are the best long-term options for United.
There is also the reality that both Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford could still leave before the transfer window closes. If that were to happen, United would be light in the forward department, so the arrival of Tel would be much more necessary than it may already be.
