Mauricio Pochettino hints how many Chelsea signings he wants this summer
Mauricio Pochettino has hinted at how many transfers he may want at Chelsea this summer. Sunday saw the Blues claim a 2-1 win over Bournemouth in their final Premier League fixture of the season.
Moises Caicedo and Raheem Sterling scored the goals that secured the three points for Chelsea. The Blues finished the season in sixth place in the Premier League table, ahead of Newcastle and Manchester United.
Chelsea will now be playing European football next season, with the outcome of the FA Cup final determining whether that will be the Europa League or Europa Conference League. A Manchester City win would see Chelsea play in the Europa League next season.
Should Man United win the trophy then they would take the Blues' spot in the competition, while Chelsea would drop into the Europa Conference League. Pochettino was asked to look ahead to this summer and next season following the win over Bournemouth.
The Blues boss was asked if any work still needed to be done to the Chelsea squad in terms of new additions, and Pochettino hinted that he would look to retain "80-85%" of the current playing squad.
"Always, you can improve," Pochettino told reporters on Sunday. "They are going to be much better next season because they will have one year of experience, a tough experience. That is the advantage of being solid and consistent and not making too many changes.

"Next season if we keep 80-85% of the squad, for sure, it is a big step forward because it is about having continuity in the ideas and the knowledge between them. That is important for the club."
When asked if he envisaged more transfers being made, Pochettino was coy with what he expects to happen this summer.
"That is a club decision," said the Chelsea boss. "Like it was from the beginning, we are going to be there to help and if not, we are going to do our job."
