Mohamed Salah's agent allegedly 'reveals transfer plan' to Liverpool fan

Speculation over Mohamed Salah's future is expected to be rife this summer, with his contract running into its final year. The player's agent has supposedly revealed the plan to a Liverpool supporter.

There was serious interest in Salah's services from Saudi Arabia last summer. Liverpool knocked back a bid of at least $191m (£150m/€175m), while some outlets have reported that an even more outlandish offer came in after the Premier League transfer window had closed.

Salah has again been in excellent form this season. Tailing off after an injury at AFCON, he nonetheless finishes as the side's top scorer. But with the Saudis still thought to hold an interest, there have been some question marks over whether incoming boss Arne Slot will even get the chance to work with him, amid the possibility the Egyptian could follow Jürgen Klopp out of the door.

It has been claimed that Liverpool expects Salah to stay for at least another season. Per The Athletic, the club has had no indication to the contrary from the player or his camp, and it intends to open dialog over a new contract too.

But what does Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, have to say? Historically, he has never been shy, causing a stir with some thinly-veiled tweets during negotiations for the 31-year-old's previous extension.

And now a Liverpool fan (@asim_LFC on X) has claimed that Abbas has told him that Salah will stay put over the summer. Posing for a photo with the agent at Anfield, the supporter shared the update on social media.

Should that prove to be true, a number of questions still remain. Chief among those is whether Salah will pen another new deal, or if we are heading into his final year with the Reds before a departure on a free transfer.

Liverpool.com says: This would certainly be good news ahead of Slot's reign. So much is changing, and having to replace the goals and assists of Salah in the same summer that Klopp leaves would make the task even more daunting.

Clearly, the veteran has been off the boil lately, but it would take a brave man to bet against him exploding back into life in the new campaign. There will already be conversations happening about the long-term succession plan, but for now, the best chance of maintaining success into the new era is by keeping Salah in the attack.

Losing him on a free transfer is not a pleasant prospect, especially when Saudi money would likely still be on the table. But Salah has already produced a return on investment many times over, so Liverpool will not be unduly concerned as it heads into contract discussions with the player and his agent.
