Mohamed Salah's most likely transfer destination emerges as Liverpool talks 'deadlocked'
Al-Hilal is the ‘most likely destination’ for Mohamed Salah should he leave Liverpool this summer, according to a recent report.
With Neymar’s contract at the Saudi Pro League (SPL) side canceled in order to secure a return to Santos, the club where the Brazilian first made his name on football’s world stage, that has freed up funds to sign Salah this summer if he does indeed Liverpool, as reported in the Telegraph.
The winger is one of three high-profile Liverpool players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. But Salah, a long-term target for the emerging division in Saudi Arabia, is being targeted by Al-Hilal, who want to add a marquee name ahead of this summer’s Club World Cup in America.

The outlet adds Al-Hilal, who boasts players such as Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo, is favorites to sign Salah above fellow SPL side Al-Ittihad, who saw a $190m/£150m rejected for the Liverpool star in 2023.
The only debate from the Riyadh-based club is whether to sign someone in January given the risk that Salah could pen an extension at Liverpool in the coming months. Al-Hilal would be able to pay Salah significantly more than the Reds, claims the Telegraph, with negotiations at Liverpool ‘deadlocked’, although there is still hope a new deal can be agreed given the player has ‘indicated he wants to stay’.
Should he head to Saudi Arabia, Salah will follow ex-team-mates Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in making the move to the Middle-Eastern country since its football expansion in recent years. Van Dijk and Alisson have also been linked with possible moves to the SPL in the future.
As for Salah, he has constantly stated this will be his final season at Liverpool as things stand - a situation which has not changed since August. He has netted 23 goals and provided 17 assists so far this campaign from 32 appearances in all competitions.
He is on course to win the Premier League’s major personal awards, in addition to a second top-flight title and possible success in the cup competitions. The Egyptian joined the Reds in 2017 and has moved up to fourth in Liverpool’s all-time scoring charts in that time.
