Neymar’s world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain may have hit a snag with LaLiga blocking the move.

The Brazilian is ready to complete a switch from Barcelona to the French capital and has already undergone a medical and agreed personal terms.

PSG are prepared to pay Neymar’s £198m release clause in full to release him from his contract at the Nou Camp in football’s biggest ever deal.

Neymar’s lawyer, Juan de Dios Crespo, has been putting the final touches to the mega-money move and it was expected the deal would go through on Friday.

However, LaLiga are refusing to accept the eye-watering payment for the Samba star.

A LaLiga statement read: “We can confirm that the lawyers of the player (Neymar) have come to La Liga to deposit the clause and that it has been rejected. It is all the information we will give so far.”

LaLiga’s attempts to scupper the transfer, protecting Barcelona from losing one of the league’s most valuable assets, are understood to have no legal foundation.

Financial Fair Play falls under UEFA’s governance and there are no grounds for LFP to refuse to accept the deposit.

Instead, Yahoo Sport UK understands Neymar will ask FIFA to confirm the completion of the transfer so he is clear to make his debut for the Paris giants.
