Patrick Dorgu continues to be a transfer target for Manchester United as the January window rolls on.

The Manchester Evening News reported last week that United had opened talks with Lecce over signing Dorgu before the February 3 deadline. It's understood that United remain in negotiations with the Serie A club in the hope of bringing Dorgu to Old Trafford.

Left-back has been an area of Ruben Amorim's squad that has been identified as in need of reinforcements before the transfer window closes. Dorgu remains a target for United, with the 20-year-old also capable of performing on the right wing with three goals to his name this term.

Transfer hint

Dorgu may have already dropped a hint that he could be on the verge of signing for United.

The Reds claimed a 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League at the weekend. Joshua Zirkzee posted on Instagram, which featured photos of himself and United teammates celebrating the win, which was captioned "Yanited".

Dorgu liked the post by Zirkzee, fuelling the speculation that he could be about to complete a move to Old Trafford.

'Crucial' bid detail

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on United's quest to sign Dorgu, in particular, the offer that the Reds are planning to make.

The report claims that United will make a fresh bid to sign Dorgu in the next 24 to 48 hours, although it is not stated what fee will be presented to Lecce. It has been claimed that negotiations remain ongoing between United and the Serie A club, too.

In particular, it has been stated that talks over the structure of potential add-ons are being held between United and Lecce. This round of talks has been described as "crucial" in the report.

Perfect shirt number

Should Dorgu complete a move to United, then he may already have his ideal shirt number lined up.

Dorgu currently has the No.13 squad number at Lecce, which is also available for United. The number has not been worn by a United player since Lee Grant's exit in 2022.
