Pep Guardiola's post-match comments should serve as a reminder as to how difficult FA Cup games against lower-league opposition can be, after Manchester City came from a goal down to win at Leyton Orient.

The League One O's took the lead in the 16th minute when Jamie Donley's lofted effort from distance hit the crossbar and bounced into the net via City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

Orient held the league until the 56th minute, when City's January signing Abdukodir Khusanov scored the equalizer, and Kevin De Bruyne went on to secure the visiting team's place in the last 16 when he scored in the 79th minute.

Pep Guardiola said prior to the match that he was expecting a difficult game and his tone had not changed when he spoke to the BBC after the game.

"We played a really good game, it was a typical FA Cup game - that's why this competition is unbelievable," Guardiola said. "We knew that they were strong and they'd run in the channels. They are a really good team and incredibly well managed but we created a lot of chances. I'm happy to go through."

Liverpool travels to lower-league opposition on Sunday, with Championship side Plymouth Argyle hosting the Reds in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and head coach Arne Slot acknowledged in his pre-match press conference that a tough afternoon could lie ahead.

He said: "It is always a tricky tie, no matter what team you play, because it is an away game and it is probably their 'final', as is often the case when Liverpool goes anywhere."
