Phillips and Devine train, Moore involved - 4 things spotted in Tottenham training for Burnley
Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad are currently putting in the hard work at Hotspur Way ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter against Burnley. A vital game for Spurs as they look to bounce back from four successive league defeats, it is also crucial for the Lilywhites when it comes to their European aspirations.
Tottenham are still in with a shout of Champions League football heading into their final three games but they somehow have to overcome Aston Villa's current seven-point lead. The issue Spurs now have is that Newcastle United are only four points behind them and they will be waiting to pounce if the team's bad run of form continues.
From the video and photos from the club's latest training session at Hotspur Way, here we take a look at four things we spotted at the club's Enfield base ahead of this weekend's clash at home to Burnley.
Moore present
Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore was once again present with the first-team squad after catching Postecoglou's eye recently. After an extended run in first-team training of late and named as 21st man for the recent North London Derby against Arsenal, the 16-year-old was included in the matchday squad last Thursday for the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.
Given a brilliant reception by the fans when he went to warm up as they chanted his name, the Southwark-born player unfortunately didn't get any pitch times despite the team's struggles at Stamford Bridge. It was very much the case for him once again on Sunday as he was an unused substitute in the 4-2 loss at Liverpool.
Clearly doing plenty right at present to remain with the first-team squad, Moore will have his fingers crossed that his senior debut arrives over the next week or so with three games on the agenda. Tottenham fans really could do with some positive news at present going on the team's form, with a debut for Moore certainly something that would please all connected with the club.

Scarlett continues to work
At a time when Moore has come into Postecoglou's thinking on a matchday, Dane Scarlett has unfortunately had to watch on from the sidelines. In the matchday squad on a handful of occasions since returning from his Ipswich Town loan spell at the start of the year, the 20-year-old has so far made four appearances for Postecoglou and Tottenham in 2024.
However, he hasn't been in the matchday party in the last four games, with his previous inclusion coming in the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest at the beginning of April, a game in which he came on for the final minute of the contest. Scarlett could be seen in the latest training footage from the club and he will be determined to regain his place as Tottenham head into the final three games of the term.
Phillips and Devine return
A couple of familiar faces are now back at Hotspur Way following their time on loan in the second part of the campaign. Fresh from helping Plymouth Argyle achieve Championship safety last weekend after beating Hull City on the final day, Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine are now putting in the hard work at Hotspur Way.
With question marks over both players heading into the 2024/25 campaign, all the duo can do at the moment is trying to catch Postecoglou's eye in what remains of the term and hopefully force their way into his first-team squad for next season. As reported by Plymouth Live, Argyle are believed to be keen on taking the pair back to Home Park in 2024/25.
In the training video produced by the club, Phillips could be seen doing some stretchers as he sat in the gym alongside James Maddison and then taking part in a running exercise with the rest of his teammates. Devine is also visible as Son Heung-min took part in the running drill.
All smiles and hard work
At a time when the spirit in camp could be quite low after four successive defeats, the Tottenham players appeared to be in a positive mood and smiling as they worked at Hotspur Way. Putting in the hours on the training pitch is going to be key to arresting their current form, with Postecoglou stating that he enjoys these times the most as he looks to build a successful team.
In the training footage when the players are working in the gym before heading outside, Emerson Royal looked to be in good spirits as he shared a laugh and joke with his teammates. Son could be seen touching the right-back's hair as they exited the gym and the Brazilian didn't look best pleased as he turned sharply and stared at the Spurs captain.
A good week on the training pitch at Hotspur Way could prove vital as Spurs look to bounce back with three points against Burnley.
