Pogba agent: he should be at 'title-winning' club
Paul Pogba’s agent has hinted the player’s future at Manchester United is dependant on the team challenging for top honours.
Mino Raiola said that his client’s ‘heart’ is still with United but also suggested the Frenchman should be playing for a ‘title-winning club’.
Pogba has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after failing to find any consistency since his return to the club for a record £90m in 2016.
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Raiola reiterated the midfielder’s love for the club but also intimated that they need to match his ambition.
"He's a top pro and I think that his heart is in the right place with Manchester United." Raiola said. “Yes I can [see him staying], but in a club that I hope fights for the league and hopefully the Champions League.
"As long as Paul is in Manchester United, he wants to win trophies with Manchester United. That's the kind of player he is and he will not act differently.”
Despite winning the League Cup and Europa League in Pogba’s first season after joining from Juventus, United have struggled to compete at the elite level, and failed to qualify for this season’s Champions League after after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.
The club also currently sit fifth in the Premier League a mammoth 24 points behind leaders Liverpool, but a recent upturn in form has seen them win four of their last six matches in the league including huge victories over Spurs and rivals Manchester City.
Raiola hopes this is a sign of things to come and provides enough reason for he and Pogba to ignore the interest of the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
"Like Ole's saying, it's a work in progress now this club.” he added. “He's says he's working on a team for next year. Let's hope that it goes well for him because the world needs Manchester United on the top.
With the January transfer window about to open, rumours of Pogba’s exit are set to intensify, but neither Manchester United nor the player’s agent expect anything to happen mid-season.
"The only one that talks for Manchester United and Paul is Ole. I go by what he says; he will not move. That's OK and we are good with them.
"Paul has always respected Manchester United, as long as Manchester United has respected Paul.”
Pogba has only featured seven times in the league for United so far this season with ongoing injury problems but recent cameos against Watford and Newcastle suggest the player is working his way back to full fitness.
"Paul is struggling a little bit with his injury and that's our main interest now.” according to Raiola. “There's one objective that Paul has and that is to perform as well as possible with Manchester United.”
