Revealed: Sir Alex Ferguson's first words when he woke up after brain surgery
You can take the man out of football but you cannot take football out of the man.
When Sir Alex Ferguson woke up from an induced coma following emergency surgery on Saturday night, only one thing was on his mind.
The 76-year-old former Manchester United manager – football’s most decorated boss of all time – suffered a brain haemorrhage at the weekend.
Millions of people have been sending him their best wishes and it was reported on Tuesday he was sitting up in bed talking.

And his first words as he came out of an induced coma after surgery at Salford Royal Hospital, Greater Manchester, were: “So, how did Doncaster get on?”
Sir Alex’s son Darren manages League One Doncaster and they played host to champions Wigan on Saturday. They lost 1-0…
A source told The Sun: “Typical Sir Alex — he can’t stop talking football. He’s very chipper and his prognosis is good. He’s already re-arranging his diary.”
He has stunned his family with his rapid progress and has even joked about making it to Kiev for the Champions League Final on May 26 but has given up all hope of making the Manchester United v Chelsea FA Cup Final a week earlier.
Sir Alex apparently told his family; “Aye, the Cup Final is out — but what about Kiev?”
A club source added: “Of course he’d love to be at Kiev on May 26 to see his former star player Cristiano Ronaldo in action for Real Madrid against Liverpool.
“Ronaldo sees Sir Alex as a father figure. But Sir Alex needs plenty of rest and will have to follow his consultant’s strict instructions to recover fully.”
Sir Alex will have to undergo several tests before he is allowed to leave hospital but his wife Cathy and sons Darren, Jason and Mark are said to be “pleased and extremely encouraged.”
