Ruben Amorim was impressed as Leny Yoro made a long-awaited Manchester United debut during Wednesday's defeat against Arsenal.

The summer signing had been ruled out since undergoing surgery on a foot injury suffered against the Gunners during pre-season but made his return to competitive action at the Emirates Stadium.

Amorim was dealt his first loss in charge of the Red Devils, with the hosts running out 2-0 winners.

Jurrien Timber and William Saliba both nodded in from corners as Arsenal’s set-piece success continued, while David Raya denied Matthijs De Ligt with a fine save.

The United boss must now pick his side up again for Saturday's clash against Nottingham Forest.

Amorim’s side sit 11th in the Premier League, albeit the congested nature of the table means they are only four points off the top five.

Yoro, tipped as one of Europe’s leading young centre-backs, replaced Harry Maguire with around half an hour to go in north London and Amorim was pleased with what he saw.

“You can feel it, the talent, the speed, the way he handled one against ones in a difficult stadium after a lot of time without playing,” he told talkSPORT.

The 19-year-old will hope to step up his return to full fitness when Forest come to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Amorim has hinted at changes for that game with the frantic fixture schedule in mind: “In this moment, it is impossible to play with the same team.

“They [the players] have to feel they are part of the team, but we are changing the methodology, we are changing a lot of things. We are changing the way we play, the way we press, so we have to have all the players fit. We cannot have injuries in this moment because it will be tough to cope with all the games so we will manage the way we feel is the better way for the team.”
