Ruud van Nistelrooy sends Ruben Amorim six-word warning ahead of ‘special’ Man United return
Ruud van Nistelrooy has warned Ruben Amorim that he already knows the Manchester United squad ‘inside out’ ahead of the manager’s return to Old Trafford.
The former striker and interim boss returns to the club for the first time since leaving back in November following the appointment of Amorim. He brings his Leicester City side in the FA Cup fourth round as he looks to get one over on his former team.
While Van Nistelrooy describes his return as ‘special’, he has said that all of his concentration is on his Leicester side. “It’s special to go back there,” he said in his pre-match press conference, via LeicestershireLive. “I have history as a player, as an assistant, as a caretaker.

“My focus is on my players and my team, to get the best out of them and to show what we’re about, in the fight and in the spirit.”
The former United man spent the first few months of the season in the opposite dugout at Old Trafford, first as assistant to Erik ten Hag and then as interim manager. He has hinted that he will now use that experience to his advantage sending a warning to Amorim.. “I’m glad I don’t have to analyse the Manchester United squad,” he added.
“I’ll leave that to Ruben. We have prepared for them and I know the squad inside out.”
United’s 2-0 loss against Crystal Palace was their sixth home defeat in the last seven Premier League games When questioned about United’s poor home form, Van Nistelrooy said it’s not something he will take too much notice of, pointing back to his own team.
“We have our own issues. We have to look at us,” he said.
“I don’t believe in sequences. You can always win a game after you’ve lost a couple. We want to represent ourselves in the best way possible.”
The meeting between the two sides will already be the third of the season at Old Trafford. With Van Nistelrooy in temporary charge of United, the Red Devils recorded a 5-2 win in the Carabao Cup and a 3-0 win in the Premier League back in October and November.
