Why Ryan Giggs has 'told Gareth Bale to only drive one car and stop playing golf'

Wales boss Ryan Giggs has rung the changes and reportedly told Gareth Bale to only drive one car from now on, cut out playing golf and stop wearing baseball caps, but there is a decent reason.

That makes it sound like Bale is hopping from car to car every journey like a robber trying to lose the cops after a bank heist, but it all actually comes down to injuries….well, except for the baseball caps one; that’s just down to decent sartorial choices.

The 28-year-old Real Madrid star has been plagued by injuries for a while and has seen game time at the Bernabeu reduced by manager Zinedine Zidane and now Giggs, who had his own problems but found a way to play into his 40s, is putting his foot down.

To help reduce stress on his hamstrings Giggs has advised Bale to only drive one car and have a custom seat inserted designed for his body’s alignment, as someone who turned to yoga in the latter stages of his playing days after suffering recurring hamstring issues early in his career.

According to The Times: “Giggs advised Bale to use one car and make sure the seat, its height and specification are set up properly for his body”.

Keeping Bale fit will benefit Giggs, who watched the former Tottenham star score a hat-trick in his first game in charge of the Welsh national side in a 6-0 victory over China.

Meanwhile, in a move likely to prove far more unpopular, Giggs has also told Bale and his Wales team-mates to stop playing golf, something he also feels is key in helping stay clear of injury.

Bale has three (yes, THREE) golf courses in his back garden and loves a swing but Giggs has told him to cut down and even cancelled a scheduled round of golf the Wales players had planned in China on Saturday.

Finally, he has also told them all to stop wearing baseball caps as he wants them to look smartly dressed and presentable, which sounds reasonable.

Meanwhile, Real boss Zidane has refuted claims Bale is unhappy in Madrid with reports linking him with a summer move back to the Premier League.

“Bale is not a sad player at Real Madrid,” he said. “Everyone can have their opinion, but I believe he is here and happy to be at this club. He has shown he is an important player in this team.”
