The reality of the summer break is quite worrying as fantasy football addicts, such as ourselves, make the most of all the fantasy football action that is on offer before the end of the season! Must Haves

Defenders

To kick things off, the defenders you should be looking at first are from Man City. City come up against a tough, in-form Crystal Palace side that have brushed aside the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool this season. However, with Mamadou Sakho injured, they struggled against Burnley and with a game against City this week, it might be wise to bring the likes of Willy Caballero or Vincent Kompany in. City have also managed to keep 2 clean sheets from their last 3 games so hopefully they can do the same again. Hull have been terrific at home since the arrival of Marco Silva and with a fixture against relegated Sunderland, it is likely that they will come away with a win and potentially a clean sheet. Therefore, Harry Maguire and Andrea Ranocchia will be popular choices this weekend. Ranocchia has picked up 2 clean sheets, an assist and a goal from his last 4 so could well return attacking points too.

Midfielders

Continuing the Hull theme, 2 players who have been crucial to Hull’s recent form are Kamil Grosicki and Lazar Markovic. Both wingers make our must-have list as Hull come up against Sunderland at home. Riyad Mahrez has struggled to find some of the form that he had last season, but with a home game against Watford, many fantasy managers will be backing the Algerian to find the back of the net and with good reason too! With Jamie Vardy back in form, the ‘Vahrez’ may be back.

With Sergio Aguero’s injury, many fantasy fans have been looking to Gabriel Jesus. The youngster has scored 4 goals and assisted another in his 4 Premier League starts this season (one game of which he only played 14 minutes due to picking up his injury) and with a game against Palace this weekend, it may be wise to bring him in! Romelu Lukakus form may not be the best away from home, however this weekend Everton have a trip to Swansea, who have only managed 2 clean sheets in 10 fixtures. It should be worthwhile backing the Belgian this weekend. Our final must have from these fixtures is the in-form Jamie Vardy. Vardy has 7 goals and 3 assists in his last 8 Premier League matches and this week he and Leicester face Watford. Need we say more? Bournemouth’s Joshua King is another who has the potential to score big this weekend. King comes up against Stoke this weekend and with 4 goals in his last 5, it is certain he will find himself in many fantasy teams.

Must Nots

Defenders

Crystal Palace come up against a very offensively strong Man City side this weekend and with key defender Sakho out injured and a record of 1 clean sheet from their last 7 fixtures, it may be wise to avoid Palace defenders. Therefore, Wayne Hennessey and Joel Ward kick off the must-nots list! Sunderland will be playing football in the Championship next season and this week they play away against Hull, who will be fighting for their survival. Hull have been incredibly good at home of late and it will be surprising if they lost this record against an already relegated side; therefore the likes of Jordan Pickford and Lamine Kone should be avoided.

Midfielders

To kick things off in the middle of the park we have Wilfried Zaha. Zaha’s fantasy returns have dried up of late, with no goals in 6 matches. That is unlikely to change as they come up against Man City this weekend. Another player who’s fantasy points are hit and miss is Etienne Capoue. At the start of the season, Capoue was scoring at will, however with just one goal since gameweek 13, he should be one to avoid this weekend. Our final must not midfielder is a bit of a gamble, however Gylfi Sigurdsson makes this list. After scoring against United last week, we expect the Icelandic playmaker and Swansea to struggle against Everton and for this reason he completes our must not midfielders!

Forwards

Up top, the first must not of the week is Swansea’s Fernando Llorente. Llorente’s fantasy returns have been sporadic this season and with the Swans’ tough fixture against Everton, he should be avoided. Someone who’s fantasy points are not sporadic is Jermain Defoe, whose goal scoring boots have well and truly gone missing. That being said, it may not be his fault, rather the ability of others around him, but either way he should be avoided this weekend. Our final must not of the week is Troy Deeney, who comes up against last season’s champions, Leicester City. Under Craig Shakespeare, Leicester have been in some great form and this will most likely continue as they host Watford.
