Sheffield United are reportedly ready to make a move for Swansea City defender Harry Darling before the end of the window.

According to the Sheffield Star, the centre-back is currently on the club's list of targets this winter, with the Blades eager to add some more defensive depth to their squad heading into the second half of the season.

Darling is out of contract at the end of the season, and there hasn't yet been any resolution on his future, with Swans boss Luke Williams even suggesting recently that talks might even be shelved until the summer. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here,

His situation has predictably attracted interest from elsewhere, with Birmingham City understood to also be a keen admirer.

As things stand, sources have told WalesOnline that the club has not yet received a bid from any club at this stage.

However, the prospect of losing one of their key players for nothing is unlikely to sit well with the powers that be at the Swansea.com Stadium, and the club might well be tempted to cash in should the right offer arise.

Darling moved to Swansea in the summer of 2022, and has since made more than 100 appearances for the Welsh side.

Should he decide to move on, it will likely deal another huge blow to Swansea's January plans, with captain Matt Grimes already seemingly closing in on a move to Coventry City.

The Sky Blues have already seen two bids turned down for the midfielder, but there's a growing feeling that a deal will get done before the end of the transfer window.

The player himself is understood to have told Swansea that he wants to hear more about what Coventry will have to offer, which will likely include a much improved pay packet.

Swansea, coincidentally, take on Coventry at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday.
