Englishwoman Fallon Sherrock was left ‘speechless’ after making history at the PDC World Darts Championship on Tuesday night.
Sherrock beat Ted Evetts 3-2 as she sent Alexandra Palace into raptures by becoming the first woman to win in the competition.
The result was even more impressive as the former the BDO Women’s World Championship runner-up was forced to recover from losing the opening set.
She scored six 180s with a 91.12 match average in their first-round contest.
"I'm speechless, I don't know what to say!" she told Sky Sports.
"I feel really happy as I've made something for women's darts. I've proved that we can play the men and can beat them, so hopefully this puts us in the right direction.
"I've loved every minute of it and I'm so happy I get to continue it rather than go out in the first round."
The stunning result follows up on Mikuru Suzuki’s close tie on Sunday, after the Japanese fell narrowly short of beating James Richardson.
Thank you to all my family, my friends and all the fans who made tonight the most amazing ever... @OfficialPDC @WilliamHill and to my loyal sponsors who made it all possible @LstyleEurope @DYNASTY_JAPAN @THEDJSHOP @ModusDarts180 @JasonThame, we did it 🏆👍👍👍👍

Fellow darts player Laura Turner added to Sky Sports: “Fantastic. I know I’ve sounded like a broken record but I’ve been championing the women’s game for so long. I knew they could do it!
“Mikuru came so close and I’m just so proud of the performance that Fallon put in. She averaged 91, she played phenomenal. I felt for Ted, but he was in a match, felt the pressure and she just capitalised.
“That’s where it needs to be. You need to forget it’s a woman, forget it’s a man and realise these are just top quality darts players."
Sherrock ‘obviously brilliant’
Sherrock’s stunning feat also saw her interviewed by Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday.
Morgan subsequently challenged her to a game, with the 25-year-old professional beating him by recording 41 off her three darts. In response, Morgan only landed 22.
Last night Fallon Sherlock became the first woman to ever beat a man in the World Men’s Darts Championship.. and today, she beat me. So she’s obviously brilliant..Congrats @Fsherrock - amazing achievement! 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/suZa28WDmz

He admitted in defeat: “I was beaten by a better player, I won’t even say your gender. It’s a really big moment. I was thrilled for you last night.
“It’s a really difficult thing to do, and you’ve proven really this is the ultimate feminism debate. You get in same playing field and you beat them.”
