After losing to Paris Saint-Germain last week, Manchester City need three points against Club Brugge to keep their Champions League hopes alive later today.

Despite going 2-0 up, City fell to a 4-2 defeat against PSG last week, leaving Pep Guardiola's side 25th in the Champions League League phase, one spot and two points off the Round of 16 play-off spots. When City welcome Club Brugge to the Etihad Stadium later today, the task is simple – win, or get eliminated from the Champions League.

A victory would guarantee Guardiola's side a spot in the Round of 16 play-off spots, where City would then play a two-legged tie against another team that finished between ninth and 24th. If City win that, they advance to the Round of 16, where they will face one of the top eight from the League Phase who qualified automatically.

Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, and Abdukodir Khusanov will all be unavailable against Club Brugge, with the trio unable to be registered until the knockout stages. So, can City secure their spot in the next round of the Champions League later today? Let's take a look...

We simulated Man City vs Club Brugge to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that City could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Ederson; Nunes, Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Silva, De Bruyne; Foden, Haaland, Savinho.

We predict that the Belgian side could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Mignolet; Sabbe, Ordonez, Mechele, De Cuyper; Onyedika, Jashari; Veltesen, Vanaken, Tzolis; Nilsson.

With lots on the line, City were dominant from the go at the Etihad, and they should've been ahead nine minutes in, but Savinho failed to hit the target in a one-on-one situation. Guardiola's side continued to press for the opener, and just before half-time, they opened the scoring.

A cleared corner fell back to Phil Foden on the left, and as the Englishman advanced towards goal, he rolled a pass into the path of Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian fired a first-time strike across goal, with his effort flying into the far corner to make it 1-0 to City.

After the restart, Erling Haaland got on the scoresheet to make it 2-0 with a header from close range, with the visitors barely threatening the City goal as Guardiola's side held out for a much-needed three points.

EA FC 25 predicted final score: Man City 2-0 Club Brugge

With City securing the win, they also secured their spot in the Round of 16 play-off places. We simulated every other result from the final Champions League League Phase game week to predict how the final table would look, and who City could face in their playoff game and Round of 16 clash if they were to get through.

These were the results:

  • Inter 2-0 Monaco

  • Bayern Munich 5-1 Slovan Bratislava

  • Sturm Graz 2-0 RB Leipzig

  • Borrusia Dortmund 1-1 Shakhtar Donetsk

  • Barcelona 3-2 Atalanta

  • Brest 1-3 Real Madrid

  • PSV 0-1 Liverpool

  • Bayer Leverkusen 5-2 Sparta Prague

  • Stuttgart 2-2 Paris Saint-Germain

  • Juventus 1-0 Benfica

  • Girona 0-2 Arsenal

  • Dinamo Zagreb 1-1 Milan

  • Lille 2-1 Feyenoord

  • Sporting 0-0 Bologna

  • Young Boys 1-1 Crvena Zvezda

  • Aston Villa 3-1 Celtic

  • RB Salzburg 1-2 Atletico Madrid

Based on these results, City finished 19th in the League Phase table, setting up a clash with 13th or 14th, which would be Atalanta or Borussia Dortmund. If Guardiola's side were to win over two legs, they would face third or fourth, meaning either Arsenal or Inter based on the results above.
