Marcus Rashford has received a response from six current Manchester United players following his debut for Aston Villa over the weekend.

The United loanee completed a switch to Villa Park late in the January window after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim. Rashford joined the Premier League side on an initial loan deal, with Villa having the option to make the move permanent in the summer.

The forward was named on the bench for Villa’s FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening. Unai Emery’s men got off to the best start with Jacob Ramsey putting them ahead with less than a minute on the clock.

It got better for Villa when Morgan Rogers doubled their lead in the second half. The goal came at the time when Rashford was getting ready to come onto the pitch to make his debut for the club.

That’s what happened just after the second goal, with the United man receiving a warm reception from the excited home crowd. He helped Villa to see out a 2-1 win after a late goal from Spurs.

Following the match, Rashford took to Instagram, where he posted pictures from the day, along with a caption reading: "Thank you for the warm welcome. Great team performance."

That message prompted a response from several current Manchester United players. The post was ‘liked’ by Leny Yoro, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt.

The post also prompted a message from former United winger Jadon Sancho, who simply replied with “Freedom.” in the comments section.

Rashford will now look to build on his debut when Villa return to Premier League action next weekend. Emery’s side return to Villa Park on Saturday (3pm) when they take on relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.
