Tottenham have had a significant bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi rejected by their London rivals.

Spurs are in the market for another centre-back after landing Kevin Danso in a £20.9million deal with Lens, but Palace are reluctant to sell Guehi before Monday night’s transfer deadline.

The England international, 24, is, though, expected to leave Selhurst Park in the summer, when he will have just a year remaining on his deal, with Spurs expected to be among a host of interested clubs at the end of the season.

Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs head coach, said on Sunday that his squad remains "a little bit short" defensively, with Radu Dragusin expected to be out for an extended period with a knee injury suffered against Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday.

Dragusin will see a specialist on Monday but is expected to miss most of the rest of the campaign, increasing Spurs' need for reinforcements at the back.

Spurs are not pursuing Chelsea's Axel Disasi after the Blues demanded a loan fee of more than £5million for the France defender.

Guehi was the subject of four rejected bids from Newcastle in the summer, the last worth around £65m plus add-ons.

He joined Palace for £18m from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and has made 134 appearances for the club, while establishing himself as an England regular.

Spurs are set to announce the signing of Manchester City midfielder Daniel Batty, 18, before Monday’s deadline.

Batty completed a medical and signed a contract on Friday but the club are waiting for the necessary paperwork to come through before announcing the deal.

The playmaker, who has come through the ranks at City, is set to join on a free transfer, with various performance related add-ons.

Batty will boost Spurs' academy ranks and is not considered a contender for Postecoglou's first-team squad this season.
