Trent Alexander-Arnold is a doubt to face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday, but could return for next week's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Alexander-Arnold limped out of the Reds' win over Bournemouth over the weekend after sustaining a groin problem, but subsequent scans have confirmed that the issue is not serious.

However, the Reds are unwilling to take any risks with the right-back and Conor Bradley will line up against Spurs if there are concerns that Alexander-Arnold is not 100 per cent fit.

Speaking straight after Liverpool's win over Bournemouth, Slot said of Alexander-Arnold's injury: "The situation was that he said to me, 'You have to take me off' and he sat on the floor and we took him off.

"He felt something, I can't tell you exactly what and how bad it is of course because we are one hour after the game, but it is never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution. This is not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday, but let's hope he is back with us as soon as possible."

Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool's only current injury concern in the senior squad after Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones all returned last week.

Liverpool continues to fight for glory in four competitions this season, and the lack of injuries that the club is contending with will no doubt aid their pursuit of silverware.

The Reds' win at Bournemouth ensured their lead at the top of the Premier League remained at six points by the end of the weekend, despite Arsenal's thumping victory over Manchester City, and they will get their game in hand out of the way next week with the rearranged Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Liverpool travels to Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend, while it will face either Brest, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica in the last 16 of the Champions League.
