Amid the possibility of joining Manchester United this January, Mathys Tel finds himself omitted from Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich matchday squad this weekend.

The door was opened to Manchester United by the 19-year-old talent himself, who last week informed Bayern officials of his intention to make a mid-season departure. Premier League clubs flocked with interest, Tottenham Hotspur with the quickest draw, though after a face-to-face meeting Tel rejected their approach.

Now with roughly two-and-a-half days remaining to ensure a move goes through no time can be wasted and that is why the attacker has been left out entirely from Bayern's Bundesliga clash with Holstein Kiel this Saturday afternoon.

Multiple sources state that Tel and his current club are assessing all the available options to resolve his future. One of those options, it still seems, would be a late move to Old Trafford.

Sky Sports have said he has received his first verbal offer from Man United, which is 'under review'. BILD have gone as far to claim that is his current preference.

This would be weighed between short-term loan opportunities to either Man United or Spurs, though Bayern's preference may not necessarily align with Tel's and therefore friction could arise.

The North Londoners were reported to be offering a £50m obligation to buy as part of their proposal presented by chairman Daniel Levy in Munich, something Man United are yet to match.

Chelsea are also known admirers since last summer and were linked with a return attempt to make the signing this January.

As of yet Enzo Maresca's side are yet to play their hand, as they also weigh up interest in Alejandro Garnacho and other targets in the time that remains of the January window.

Arsenal and Aston Villa are other Premier League sides to have their names mentioned. Like the Blues, Arsenal have not acted and Villa it seems have alternative plans.

MEN Sport understands they are closing in on a short-term loan agreement with Marcus Rashford, in a sensational twist of events.
