It feels like every other day, a new name has been ruled out of a move to Liverpool. Well, it seems another player has just dismissed the idea of switching to Anfield.

Milos Kerkez has been heavily linked with the Reds in recent weeks, especially as Andy Robertson has struggled to find his usual form this season, leading to fears that the 30-year-old might now be on the decline as a player.

It was suggested just last week that the Bournemouth defender preferred a move to Liverpool over Manchester United or Manchester City. Kerkez though now looks to have ruled himself out of a transfer to Merseyside.

Responding to messages from Liverpool and Bournemouth fans during a live stream, the Hungary international said: "I will not go to Liverpool. For everybody listening, I will not go to Liverpool."

That will come as a big blow to Reds fans, and might well leave the club looking for other options to replace Robertson. Liverpool.com has taken a look at four players who could be next on the club’s shortlist.

Rayan Ait-Nouri

Rayan Ait-Nouri is perhaps the first name most would think of as an alternative to Kerkez. Indeed, a recent report from The i Paper that suggested the Bournemouth defender was the priority for Liverpool also claimed that Ait-Nouri was next on the list.

What could work in Liverpool’s favor with the 23-year-old is the simple fact that Wolves find themselves in a relegation battle at the moment. If they were to go down this season, it’s likely some of their better players - Ait-Nouri included - would try and secure moves away from Molineux.

The Reds have had success with taking players from relegated clubs in the past - Robertson of course being the best example of that. Perhaps a similar move could be on the cards again.

Antonee Robinson

Antonee Robinson is earning plenty of plaudits this season, and Liverpool has already had a first-hand look at what he can do after his outstanding display at Anfield last month.

The USMNT star has been linked with a move to the Reds for some time, although nothing has materialized on that front. As good a player as he is, there is one fairly obvious reason why Liverpool might not view him as the ideal replacement for Robertson.

At 27, and set to be 28 when the 2025/26 season gets underway, Robinson has already reached his peak years, and so there’s only really one way for his performances to go over the next few years - down. He might still offer a good option in the short term, but FSG don’t tend to go for that sort of signing.

Miguel Gutierrez

Miguel Gutierrez isn’t a name that has featured much in the gossip columns when it comes to Liverpool. There was a suggestion at the start of January that the Reds were willing to make a move for him, although it did come from Spanish outlet Fichajes, which hasn’t been the most reliable source.

Nevertheless, it might be a move that gets the thumbs up from Arne Slot, given the Liverpool boss admitted Gutierrez had caught his eye ahead of the Reds’ meeting with Girona in the Champions League last month.

“Last season I watched quite a lot of them, because I found it really interesting what he (Michel) did with the left full-back (Gutierrez),” Slot said.

“He’s still doing it this season as well, playing so inverted, having such a free role from that position – at that moment of time, you didn’t see that so often. That was interesting to see.”

Alvaro Carreras

The last name on our list might cause a bit of a stir if he does end up making the move to Anfield. Alvaro Carreras has been linked with Liverpool in recent months, although his links to Manchester United might provide something of a stumbling block.

Carreras was a United player for four years before being sold to Benfica last summer. The Old Trafford club does have a buy-back clause, according to former United boss Erik ten Hag, although considering they seem to be going all out for Patrick Dorgu, it doesn’t look like they will be taking up that option.

So, that could open the door for Liverpool to make a play, although Spanish outlet Sport has claimed Barcelona is keeping a close eye on him, so the Reds may need to go big if they do want Carreras.
