Alan Shearer will be on co-commentary duty for Manchester City's clash against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League play-off round. Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti will lock horns at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, each looking to secure a place in the round of 16.

Manchester City head into the heavyweight bout off the back of a shaky 2-1 win over Leyton Orient in the fourth round of the FA Cup. While the Premier League champions came from behind against the League One outfit, Los Blancos went toe-to-toe with Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Diego Simeone held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, stopping Ancelotti from resting any of his big hitters. In what is expected to be an exciting clash between two European giants, Shearer will be in the gantry at the Etihad Stadium.

The Newcastle United legend will be joined by Jon Champion as part of Amazon Prime's coverage. The programme will be hosted by Gabby Logan, who will be joined by pundits Wayne Rooney, Clarence Seedorf, Daniel Sturridge and Gael Clichy.

Shearer graced our television screens at the weekend. On Saturday, he provided expert analysis on Birmingham City's 3-2 defeat to the Magpies for the BBC before climbing into the gantry on Sunday to commentate on Aston Villa's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur for ITV.

While Shearer has spent the last few days on the road, he's a family man at heart. The Premier League's all-time top goal scorer has been married to Lainya for nearly 34 years, and he has two daughters and a son: Chloe (31), Hollie (29) and Will (24).

His children have each built significant followings on Instagram; Will has 16,000 followers, Chloe has almost 20,000 and Hollie leads the pack with an impressive 82,000. The latter of which got engaged to Joe Marchant in November.

The England international, who currently plays rugby union for Stade Francais in France, proposed to Shearer's daughter in Paris, with Hollie showing off a big diamond ring in-front of the Eiffel Tower. The couple went public with their relationship in April 2022, before moving in together in the French capital last year.

Shearer previously joked that his daughter has shown more interest in rugby than football since meeting Marchant. When asked about the 28-year-old on social media, the Match of the Day pundit quipped: "I'm just glad it's not a footballer."

Shearer's eldest daughter, Chloe, has also taken her father's dating advice – she's in a relationship with a former rugby player called Micky Young. He had two stints at Newcastle Falcons before leaving last year to spend his final season at Gloucester.

In August, the Tyneside outfit announced Young would be honoured with a testimonial year, featuring a football dinner event with Shearer himself. All eyes will be on the former England international, who – no doubt – will be eager to prove he's still got!
