Arne Slot confirmed, Virgil van Dijk contract announced - Liverpool end of season in dream scenario
Just two games remain. That is all there is left of the Jürgen Klopp era at Liverpool, with one final away fixture to play against Aston Villa and then an Anfield farewell against Wolves.
But what would the ideal last week or so look like before the German departs? Later in the month, Klopp's final moment at Liverpool will be at the M&S Bank Arena when he takes part in an evening of celebrations including a live Q&A, while there will be plenty of emotions on the pitch and in the stands after the final home match.
In an ideal world, before that, Liverpool would win its final two matches and continue the upward trajectory that the victory over Spurs last weekend suggested would be possible. Another couple of goals for Mohamed Salah will help shape the narrative in a positive light ahead of a crucial summer for his contract situation.

Darwin Núñez scoring or at least looking a little better than he has of late could be important as well. The Uruguayan has come under scrutiny for his inconsistencies but ending the campaign on a high would be beneficial for his confidence.
Off the field, while the appointments of the likes of Michael Edwards, Richard Hughes and Julian Ward have been made, there is a lot of work for those members of staff to be done. It could be a busy first summer (back) together.
An agreement has been made with Arne Slot to become Liverpool's new head coach but that is yet to be announced. It is possible that could happen before next weekend, to give him the best chance of waving goodbye to Feyenoord after its last game of the season (even though the move is an open secret at this stage).
As well as Salah's contract situation, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both only tied down until 2025 too. Getting one of those players signed up to an extension — and all three of the trio should be handed new deals — would be a massive boost ahead of the conclusion of the season and would avoid any transfer speculation arising during the time with no fixtures.
Work will have been going on for some time now on potential transfers, with center-back seeming like an obvious place to target given the rest of the squad is fairly well balanced. The chances of anything being confirmed before the season ends are slim, but a swift and decisive move in the weeks that follow would make sense.
With the European Championship taking place in Germany and the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, there is not going to be loads of time between the end of this season and the start of pre-season where players are actually present. Getting things done early, then, will be even more crucial than usual.
While there is not going to be a Premier League title to send Klopp off with, there are still plenty of other things for Liverpool to be getting on with. Giving the German an emotional ovation at Anfield next Sunday will be a key part of that as an emotional week that marks the end of an era begins.
