Chelsea to seal first transfer of Enzo Maresca era after Tosin Adarabioyo completes medical

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer after he had a medical on Tuesday.

Fulham have confirmed that Adarabioyo is leaving Craven Cottage at the end of his contract, and the defender is set to become the first signing of the Enzo Maresca era.

Chelsea want to strengthen their defence this summer, and the arrival of 26-year-old Adarabioyo is set to precede the expected departure of Trevoh Chalobah.

Fulham are interested in a deal for Chalobah, who has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Adarabioyo rejected multiple new contract offers from Fulham in favour of leaving on a free transfer.

The former Tottenham target was also wanted by Manchester United and Newcastle, but Chelsea are now set to win the race for his signature.

Chelsea want to strengthen their centre-back options this summer after the departure of Thigao Silva.

The Blues are also set to sign Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian and are targeting a left-back and a forward, while they could also bring in a new goalkeeper.

Adarabioyo made 132 appearances in four years at Fulham after joining the club from Manchester City in 2020.
