Chelsea vs Arsenal Europa League final tickets: English clubs allocated just 6,000 tickets each for match in Baku

Arsenal and Chelsea have each been allocated just 6,000 tickets for this month’s Europa League final at the 68,700 capacity Baku Olympic Stadium.

Arsenal said on Thursday night that they were “disappointed” with the small ticket allocations, while also warning those supporters who wanted to travel to Azerbaijan that they face “significant travel difficulties and cost implications”.

The club have warned that return travel to Baku will cost supporters “in excess of £1,000 per person” as well as announcing pricing details for travelling Arsenal fans.

Limited tickets available through the club range from £26 to £78, with an extremely limited band of £121 tickets. Chelsea have not yet announced pricing details for their tickets.

Arsenal say they are in “active discussions with Uefa for more tickets” but have already warned that the majority of their supporters will miss out on a chance to watch the 29 May final.

“As many of you will be aware, we are proud to have approximately 45,000 season ticket holders and over 180,000 official members,” a statement on the club website read.

“It is inevitable that with an allocation of just 6,000 tickets for the final, there will be thousands of fans who have supported the club for years and been part of our Europa League journey this season, who will be unable to attend this match.

“This is a disappointing situation and we can only ask that supporters understand the difficult situation we find ourselves in.”

Uefa have already sold a number of tickets through a ballot process, with successful applications already being informed that they have been successful.

The rest will go to the local organising committee, Uefa and national associations, commercial partners, broadcasters and corporate hospitality.

Arsenal reached the Europa League final by beating Valencia 7-3 on aggregate. Chelsea meanwhile needed penalties to see off Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
