Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott could get Liverpool chance after Virgil van Dijk hint
Liverpool is already guaranteed a spot in the top two of the Champions League group phase this season with a game to spare. Finishing top, ahead of Barcelona, would be nice, but there is ultimately not much benefit.
There is more money for a higher finish and winning another game, and there might well be some prestige attached to coming top of the pile in future years when everyone has got used to the new UEFA format. For now, though, Liverpool's game with PSV is essentially a dead rubber for the Reds.
With so many matches coming, Arne Slot simply has to take the chance to rotate and give key men a rest while he can. There is an argument for giving Caoimhin Kelleher some minutes while Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah should be certainties.

"To keep everyone fresh, very important," Virgil van Dijk told reporters including from Liverpool.com last weekend. "Even now, knowing we play PSV on Wednesday, there will probably be some rotation.
"Other players can have the opportunity to play in the Champions League. These things are good to do. Everyone is needed. These moments where players can come in and have their opportunity, that is important. The manager is using these opportunities as well."
Van Dijk himself, given Joe Gomez is injured, might have to play unless Wataru Endo slots in alongside Quansah. It could then be either Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas at left-back, with neither having nailed down the starting role.
In midfield, Harvey Elliott should get the chance to shine while Curtis Jones will play if he is fit. Endo could play instead of Ryan Gravenberch, or Tyler Morton could come in if the Japanese is needed in the backline.
Likewise, Federico Chiesa should get another go from the start having made a couple of sharp substitute appearances lately. Cody Gakpo will be desperate to play against his former club while Darwin Nunez will come in as the number nine.
Slot could go stronger, of course. Gravenberch played 45 minutes against Lille a week ago and Mohamed Salah started that match too. With a trip to Bournemouth coming up just three days later, though, no risks should be taken. By some distance, that Premier League clash is the biggest game of the week.
