Tottenham bring the curtain down on their 2023/24 Premier League season on Sunday afternoon when they take on Sheffield United on the final day. Unable to achieve a Champions League finish with Aston Villa securing fourth place on Tuesday evening as a result of Spurs' defeat at home to Man City, the Lilywhites have the opportunity at Bramall Lane to confirm their place in next season's Europa League.

All Ange Postecoglou's team need to do to wrap up a fifth-place finish is record a point against the Premier League's bottom club. Chelsea can still leapfrog Tottenham but they would need to beat Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge and hope their London rivals lose in South Yorkshire.

Although it is Tottenham's final game of the league term, they do have one more match still to play as the team will immediately jet off to Melbourne to take on Newcastle United in a post-season friendly. In terms of competitive games, a handful of players could potentially be making their final Tottenham appearance in the Premier League this weekend.

Already making some key changes at the club in the past two transfer windows, Postecoglou and Johan Lange will be looking to make some further alterations this summer as they bid to get the team competing towards the top of the Premier League on a consistent basis. That means players will move on elsewhere for a new challenge and some fresh faces will come in through the door.

From the players who are likely to be in the matchday squad at Bramall Lane, who exactly could be playing in their final Premier League game for Tottenham on Sunday? One of the most obvious candidates is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Previously one of the first names on the teamsheet, the Dane has had to contend with a place on the substitutes' bench for the vast majority of the season. Certainly someone who needs to be playing week in, week out, a summer move looks a real possibility for the ex-Southampton man.

Fellow midfielder Oliver Skipp could also be potentially linked with a move away from the club this summer after limited appearances throughout the 2023/24 campaign. However, what Tottenham need to be mindful of next season is the homegrown numbers when it comes to the Premier League and UEFA club competition.

As Skipp qualifies as a homegrown player, Spurs may decide it is best to keep the 23-year-old in N17 for the time being. Sticking with Tottenham's midfielders, there are question marks over Giovani Lo Celso's fitness heading into the Sheffield United match due to a knee issue.

Whether or not he is included in the squad, the Argentine, like Hojbjerg, looks to be another player who will be heading out of the door in search of regular first-team football. It has just not happened for the ex-Real Betis midfielder under Postecoglou and a permanent move away from Tottenham would be best for his career.

Emerson Royal is also another who could play in his final Tottenham game this weekend. Serving Tottenham well over the past few seasons, the Brazilian unfortunately doesn't offer Postecoglou what he wants from his right-backs and that could lead to his exit.

Tottenham very much need to bring in a like-for-like replacement for Pedro Porro, thus potentially paving the way for Emerson to exit in the process. Another of Tottenham's 2021 signings who looks destined to head elsewhere for a new challenge is Bryan Gil.

The winger's move to north London has just not worked out at all and a permanent exit is required for Gil as he is not going to get the regular football he wants at Spurs. The ex-Valencia loanee is at the age where he needs to be playing every week to help aid his development.

Brandon Austin will be in the Tottenham squad this weekend as deputy to Guglielmo Vicario and the shot-stopper can technically exit the club this summer due to his contract status. However, football.london reported in April that Spurs are in talks over an extension to his deal with both parties happy to extend his stay and with his progress behind the scenes.

In regards to players who won't be available at Sheffield United but may have already played their last game for the football club, question marks surround what exactly will happen with Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon over the course of the summer. Richarlison could fall into that category amid speculation regarding a switch to Saudi Arabia and the same could potentially be said about Ben Davies due to the Welshman having players ahead of him in the pecking order at both left-back and centre-back.

Tottenham do have a decision to make over Timo Werner shortly as his loan spell from RB Leipzig will soon come to an end. The Lilywhites do have the option to purchase the German international as part of their agreement with the Bundesliga side.

Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon and Troy Parrott are among the loan players who may have already played their last game for Tottenham.
