Gary Neville is backing Tottenham to dump Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup to set up a Wembley meeting with Newcastle.

Spurs lead the semi-final 1-0 on aggregate after Lucas Bergvall's controversial winner in the first leg, but Arne Slot's men are still favorites to make it through to the final. The Reds have the Anfield factor on their side in the second leg and are clearly the better team, but former Manchester United captain Neville doesn't think they will get through.

“I think Tottenham [will go through]," Neville said. "I think Tottenham are going to get a draw. I don’t know how they’re going to get a draw at Anfield, but I feel like it’s going to be an emotional, mad night where something happens.

“Postecoglou said earlier on in the season… I’m maybe not hanging my hat on what he’s saying entirely, but I’ve just got a feeling Tottenham… I’ve got a feeling Tottenham could win the Carabao Cup this season.

“And I’ve got a feeling that, to be fair, they’re always going to have to come through a moment like this. It will be absolute Liverpool favorites, but I feel somehow Tottenham are going to get a draw by hook or by crook.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher is backing Spurs to score on the night but thinks Liverpool will net three times and progress with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

“I think Liverpool will win on the night, and I think Liverpool will go through," Carragher said. "I think Liverpool will win. I think Liverpool. I’ll go 3-1 Liverpool."

In terms of team news for the match, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only Liverpool player who is unavailable, as he misses out through injury after coming off against Bournemouth on Saturday. Arne Slot, however, confirmed the problem is not serious and that the player is already back out on the training pitch, with a return in next week's Merseyside derby likely.

Tottenham's new signings Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel are both available to play, but Ange Postecoglou remains without a host of first-team stars. Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Radu Dragusin and Guglielmo Vicario are all likely to miss out.
