Gossip: Manchester United star David De Gea causing 'dressing room unrest' as Real Madrid interest heats up

Real Madrid have been hot on the trail of David De Gea for years.
Real Madrid have been hot on the trail of David De Gea for years.

There have been some handbags in the dressing room at Real Madrid, where playmaker Isco has “caused controversy” by trying to persuade Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea to quit Old Trafford for the Bernabeu.

The Express says Isco’s team-mates have deemed Isco’s actions a “stab in the back” to Real’s current No1 Keylor Navas.

The repercussions of this are unclear – possibly it means Sergio Ramos no longer offers Isco one of his crisps when he’s eating a packet.

Brutal stuff, in other words.

Suarez bites back at Neymar

Luis Suarez has made lots of enemies in his football career, mainly through trying to eat them, and he’s never seemed particularly bothered about that. But his latest dressing room squabble will surely trigger at least a twinge of regret – because his newest alleged enemy is a man who was once a cherished friend. It’s Neymar.

The Express reports that that two South American forwards – who once comprised two thirds of Barcelona’s famous MSN attack – have fallen out in a big way. But this time it’s not Suarez’s big teeth that are the problem; it’s his big mouth.

Neymar is apparently “furious” with Suarez – along with his Barca team Gerard Pique – for leaking information to the press about his “current state of mind”. That state of mind being one of unhappiness (not that the press needed leaked information to work that out, given that Neymar cried actual tears in his most recent press conference).

The source of the Brazilian’s malaise is his new life at Paris Saint-Germain, which he has not been enjoying as much as he thought he would when he accepted their £600,000-a-week salary offer in the summer.

Neymar’s close relationship with his former Barcelona team-mates is now “set to change” because he feels “betrayed” by Suarez and Pique.

The big question is whether he is angry enough to sign for Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid, and then celebrate in Suarez’s face when he scores?

Torres to reunite with Benitez

Back in good old England, Newcastle are reportedly set to make an audacious attempt to sign Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres (Sun). Magpies manager Rafa Benitez had Torres at his best when they worked together at Liverpool, although the 33-year-old has become considerably less effective since then. Hence his availability for a loan switch in January, with Southampton also said to be interested.

Meanwhile, Atletico are set to offload Nicolas Gaitan and Luciano Vietto to fund a move for Man Utd midfielder Ander Herrera, over whom Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is said to have “doubts” (Express).

Really gonna miss that Mike Ashley guy – he seemed so nice and cuddly.
