Yahoo Sport’s The Football Show presenter and Liverpool fan Toby Tarrant was at the game, and despite the loss, described it as an ‘honour to watch Messi play’.
Gutted with the result don't actually have too many complaints with the performance.
It was an honour to watch Messi play like that.
Although in hindsight I think would have been closer to the pitch if I'd stayed at home: pic.twitter.com/EoepKWEyey— Toby Tarrant (@tobytarrant) May 1, 2019
The Argentinean’s former team mate Cesc Fabregas said he was the difference between the two sides.
Hats off to Liverpool, what an amazing performance. You can only lose a game like that if against you there is a good team but specially a player that is well above the rest.

Messi would surely be favourite to lift the Ballon D’or once more should he lead Barcelona to Champions League glory again. UEFA certainly liked it.
