Liverpool had a clean bill of health heading into its huge win over Bournemouth this weekend but that was never likely to last long. Trent Alexander-Arnold was replaced in the second half as he limped off with a knock.

Appearing to have a thigh issue, Alexander-Arnold was taken off on minute 70 with Conor Bradley coming on in his place. Arne Slot confirmed post-match that it was as a precaution and the ECHO reports that he will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the severity.

"The situation was that he said to me, 'You have to take me off' and he sat on the floor and we took him off," Slot said during his press conference at the Vitality Stadium. "He felt something. I can't tell you exactly what and how bad it is.

"Of course, it is never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution. This is not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday, but let's hope he is back with us as soon as possible."

Liverpool has its second leg against Spurs on Thursday in the Carabao Cup. Bradley started the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which the Reds los 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Lucas Bergvall, and is likely to be required again.

Elsewhere, Federico Chiesa missed the trip to the south coast only as a selection decision, having played 90 minutes a few days earlier at PSV, where the Italian impressed. He will hope to return to the matchday squad for Spurs on Thursday.

Joe Gomez is nearing a comeback from an injury having not played in just over a month. The center-back was not in the squad for Bournemouth, but like Chiesa, there was no room for all the defenders who Slot had in reserve.

Liverpool.com says: Even if Alexander-Arnold is now sidelined, Liverpool has had a good situation in terms of injuries so far this season. Bradley and Gomez would be able to deputize, even though that wouldn't be ideal.
