Liverpool forward Jayden Danns is closing in on a loan move to Sunderland where he will spend the rest of this season. The 19-year-old missed out on a transfer last summer when he was injured but has now made a full recovery.

Since returning from a back problem, Danns has played four times at senior level for Liverpool including starting in the Champions League against PSV last midweek. He scored after coming off the bench in the FA Cup against Accrington Stanley last month.

According to the Daily Mirror, Danns will complete a move to the North East today. Lewis Koumas, who was impressive alongside Danns last season for Liverpool, has done very while with Stoke City in the same division.

Liverpool is not expected to be busy today but Kaide Gordon looks set to be heading to Portsmouth. James McConnell could stay put at Anfield but has drawn interest from several clubs.

Slot has already confirmed that work is being done ahead of the summer on possible incomings for his side. It was never likely that the Reds would move in the mid-season window, though.

In fact, few clubs aside from Manchester City have made big moves. Pep Guardiola has bought Omar Marmoush and a couple of young center-backs, splashing out well over $100m. PSR appears to be working, though, with some clubs more reluctant to spend for the sake of it when there is limited value in the market.

Liverpool.com says: Danns should do really well in the Championship. He is a very good finisher and he is physically ready for the challenge of playing every week. If he kicks on and scores a few goals, he can then eye up a big summer and a potential chance to shine during pre-season. Sunderland, chasing promotion under Regis Le Bris, is the ideal place for him to impress.
