Liverpool has seven options waiting for Arne Slot as Jürgen Klopp trend must continue

Bobby Clark of Liverpool dribbles with the ball against Arsenal.

As Liverpool seeks to embark on a new era at Anfield under Arne Slot, one trait that Jürgen Klopp has brilliantly delivered will need to continue: the focus on bringing through youth talent.

Under the German, Liverpool has seen numerous young players emerge and make a real difference, with Trent Alexander-Arnold being the most notable. Even those who have not quite made the grade have seen the Reds generate millions to be reinvested in the transfer market (Dominic Solanke, for instance), while there have been many more who have made a tangible impact on the field.

Moving forward, Slot, who has given youth a go at Feyenoord, will need to implement a similar level of integration for young players coming through in Kirkby. And there are plenty who deserve to be given the chance to take the next step.

In Bobby Clark, Kaide Gordon, Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas, Stefan Bajčetić, Tyler Morton and Fábio Carvalho, there are numerous options who Slot will be able to use straight away. Even Ben Doak, who has been injured during the second half of the season, should probably count in this group almost like a 'new' player to be added back into the squad.

Clark has spent time on the treatment table in the early part of the season and then at the end as well, otherwise the talented midfielder would have featured considerably more. He would have played more in the Europa League had he not been missing at an inopportune moment, but he is ready to play a proper senior part. He showed that by starting away at Nottingham Forest.

Technically gifted but robust enough to take on board the strong challenges sent his way, Clark has well outgrown the U21 age group. A permanent spot in the matchday squad next season is a realistic aim; if he isn't going to get that, then a loan at the top end of the Championship should be a serious consideration.

Bajčetić is another who, fitness permitting, should be a regular feature under Slot next season. The Spanish teenager is a huge talent, even though he has missed the majority of this season through injury. Once he is back and fully firing, there is an argument that he could even be in Liverpool's strongest team.

Kaide Gordon, who earlier in the season made a return to competitive action after missing 19 months through injury, is another to watch out for. He has looked very sharp in recent weeks and has put together a string of 90-minute U21 performances that show he is over the troubles that held him back before. This summer, he could really stake a claim.

Those are the three players to watch out for the most from the U21s group. But in Doak, Danns, Koumas and the rest, Liverpool got a preview this season of what they can become. Big decisions lie ahead for Morton and Carvalho, too, in terms of their careers. A transfer away would guarantee more minutes but with Slot coming in, they may want to see where the land lies.

A little lower down, in the U18s age group hoping to move into the U21s, are Kieran Morrison and Trent Kone-Doherty (both 17), who are exciting wingers with speed and end product. The production line isn't going to stop, and it will be up to Slot to ensure that Liverpool continues to make the most of it.
