Liverpool told one transfer it should make by AI on deadline day to win Premier League
AI software ChatGPT has identified Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes as the perfect deadline day signing for Liverpool - predicting that the star would make a "seamless adaptation" to life under Arne Slot.
The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League standings after 23 games played, having defied pre-season expectations to remain at the summit beyond the midway stage of the campaign. Despite being in pole position to dethrone Manchester City as champions this term, the Merseysiders are unlikely to make a major signing in the final hours of the winter transfer window.
Either way, ChatGPT was set the task of earmarking the perfect reinforcement for Slot's squad as the Dutchman looks to lead his side to the title - producing an intriguing answer in the process. The AI chatbot eventually calculated that Wolves star Gomes would hypothetically be the best suited player to Slot's side based upon his playing style and experience.

According to Bonuscodebets, the platform's response to its prompt read: "Joao Gomes has been a standout performer for Wolves, showcasing exceptional defensive capabilities and ball distribution.
"His tenacity and work rate would complement Liverpool’s midfield, providing depth and competition," it continued, outlining the Brazilian star's key attributes. "Additionally, his experience in the Premier League ensures a seamless adaptation to Liverpool’s high-pressing system.
The nine-time international has tallied up 67 league appearances over the last three seasons at Molyneux, following his departure from boyhood club Flamengo. The 23-year-old central midfielder has shown tactical flexibility this term, playing in a variety of roles in the middle of the park for his current employers this term.
Valued at €40 million ($41m) by TransferMarkt, his output during the 2024-25 campaign has been similar to Premier League stars including Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali and Manchester City's Rico Lewis. That is according to his scouting report on FBref, which has compared his numbers this season with that of his peers in the English top flight.
With no new arrivals expected at Anfield in the winter window, Slot has instead previously earmarked the summer as the period when the Reds will likely strengthen, telling the BBC: "Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, and we should always be competing for the Champions League. I’m hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level.
"I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that — because we’re happy with the squad. But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer."
Meanwhile, Kop hero Jamie Carragher commented on his former club's lack of activity in the market in January last week, saying: "There’s no doubt in the fact that Liverpool haven’t bought anyone this window and didn’t really buy anyone in the summer. There must be a big pot of money there to buy whoever they want next summer."
